Mapping of Market System for Increasing Coffee Farmers’ Income in Ngadirejo Village, Malang Regency, East Java

Abstract:

Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning villages in Indonesia gives authority to villages to regulate and take care of the interests of their communities effectively, for improving the welfare of the community. Ngadirejo is one of the villages in Jabung District, Malang Regency, Indonesia, which has a lot of potential, both from agricultural and natural products. Coffee plants are one of the products of the agriculture sector from the area. Currently, coffee plants are not the main choice for the people due to three reasons, namely: (1) low selling prices, (2) low productivity, and (3) coffee is not the main crop. Grant of Doktor Mengabdi (DM) by Universitas Brawijaya 2022, a community services program, is focused on mapping the market system for coffee plants in Ngadirejo Village and it is also intended to give socialization for establishing Village Own Enterprises (BUMDes) to village officers. The community services program is carried out by using a participatory approach and involving key informants to map the market system of coffee commodities.
